Friendly Reminders

The Board has received several concerns recently. There have been multiple issues with neighbors not having their dogs on a leash and under control.

Please refer to the Gwinnett County Ordinance: 10-71. - Restraint of dogs for further information to make sure you are in compliance.  Here is their link:

https://library.municode.com/ga/gwinnett_county/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=PTIICOOR_CH10AN

Per the Gwinnett County Animal Control website:

For non-urgent situations such as nuisance barking or lost pets, call the Animal Welfare and Enforcement shelter at 770.339.3200 during shelter operating hours.
For urgent matters such as neglect, mistreatment, or if an animal is behaving in a way that is threatening to the welfare of the community, call 770.513.5700. Neighborhood assistance may be necessary to document ordinance violations if Animal Welfare and Enforcement did not witness the violation.

Occasionally, a resident may receive an orange warning card as notification of a potential Animal Control Ordinance violation or complaint. Whenever possible, opportunities are offered to correct a violation before court action occurs.

Pet owners can be subject to criminal and/or civil legal action if their pet damages property or injures another animal or a human.”
— Per the Gwinnett County Animal Control website

Feel free to program these numbers into your phone.  We want to ensure that all of our neighbors and visitors are safe.

In addition, the Board has received several concerns about vehicles speeding, not stopping at stop signs, and passing slower moving vehicles in our neighborhood.  Please observe and obey these posted signs (25 MPH Speed Limit) and be respectful of other drivers.

If you need to report a violation, please contact Gwinnett County PD.

The Board asks that if you have renters, please make them aware of these concerns.  The Board appreciates your help with keeping our neighborhood safe.

Thank you.

Pool Party Saturday May 18th

Hello Neighbors,

It’s that time of the year again for our Annual Ashton Wood Neighborhood Pool Party!!!!!

This year’s party is open to both Swim/Tennis members and non-members. If you do not have a pool badge you may still come as long as you are a resident.

The party is scheduled to take place on May 18th from 5pm-9pm. There will be food, games, and fun for all ages. The HOA will provide the meat, water, games, and prizes.

However, do ask that you bring your own sides and additional drinks.

Last year’s pool party was a great success! We have continued to raise the bar for this year’s pool party but it wouldn’t be a party without you. So please plan on coming out with your families to support this exciting event in our new pool area!

PS if you would like to volunteer to help set up for the party please arrive in the pool area at 4pm. Thanks

Sincerely,
Ashton Wood HOA Social Committee

BACKYARD GARDEN TOUR JUNE 1st

BACKYARD GARDEN TOUR

SATURDAY JUNE 1, 2019

9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The Backyard Garden Tour is just around the corner. Our neighborhood gardeners have been working hard and are ready to share their handiwork.  Some of the gardeners have made new additions/changes to their yards.  Come and see.  On the day of the tour, there will be street directional signs telling you which streets to turn on.  There will also be decorative signs in the front yards of each neighbor that is participating. LOOK FOR THE PINK FLAMINGOS. The gardeners are all excited to talk about their yards, share information, and tell their stories. It looks to be a great time for getting to know more of your neighbors and to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Our New Pool Opens May 11!

Pool opening day is just around the corner - May 11.

A pool party for the entire neighborhood is scheduled for May 18th (details to be posted in upcoming days, so check the web site often).

Swim-Tennis members should be receiving their welcome package soon. Watch your email box for information about picking up your package.

A pool pre-opening workday is scheduled for this Saturday starting at 9:30 AM. Please come out and help us prepare the pool area for the season, including new furniture!

What follows is an excerpt from Ashton Wood HOA President, Alfie Meek,’s article from last month about the pool improvements:

As I mentioned in my annual letter last October, the Ashton Wood HOA Board has been considering major upgrades and improvements to the pool.  I am happy to let you know that the improvements are underway and will be ready for the pool opening on May 11!!

If you have used the pool in recent years, you know that many of the tiles are cracked, the surface of the pool is rough on your feet, the umbrellas are faded, and the furniture is old and outdated.

Well, no longer! The entire pool is being re-surfaced with a pebble finish that includes multi-colorpebbles and will have royal blue accent tile around the edges.  In addition, all new pool furniture has been purchased that includes new tables, new chairs, and new chaise lounges as well as new table umbrellas.  Finally, the old chain link fence around the pool area has already been removed and a new, 6-foot fortress steel fence is being put up in its place.  This new fence will have two self-closing, self-locking gates with electronic key pad locks…no longer will we have to deal with the old combination lock and chain.

Your HOA Board is excited about the new changes and upgrades to our pool.  The pool is probably the number one amenity in our neighborhood and I encourage you to check out the upgrades over the next few weeks, and then join the HOA as a swim/tennis member so that you and your family can enjoy the new and exciting pool.  Join before April 1 for only $385 per family and have full use of the pool this summer!
